Default The Prima Guide to Guild Wars

I called Random House today (they own Prima guides) and the tentative ship date for the guide is now June 7.

God, I hope it finally ships.

Why does anyone need to buy guides with all the wealth of information online?

Umm... why the hell would anyone want to buy a guide for Guild Wars? Anyone can beat this game... with a with good team mates. No guide can help you get good team mates that I can assure you. No matter how many times you read the strategy guide, I assure you you are still gonna suck without your team mates.

PS. I beat the game three times already, just to prove guide is uselss.

Personally, I want the guide because it has a map and easier maps to see things than the online ones where I'd have to switch back and forth.

I want the pull out map to mark on it where certain people/collectors are for future reference so I don't have to keep running all over the place sometimes finding what I want. I also want to be able to mark where chests are generally located at times, just something quick to look at. Also, where bosses generally are and waht types.

Plus it gives you something to read when you're at lunch somewhere where you don't have access to the forums. I took my EQ2 guide wherever I went so I could at least try to get my fix.

This website and forum completely eliminate the need for a guide. I often have this site runing while playing GW.

In case anyone is interested, the Guild Wars Prima Strategy EGuide is available for download already:

http://estore.primagames.com/eguide_...?prodid=NC2100

Of course there's no map poster, but I believe the rest of the content is the same as what will be in the printed guide. There's a 22 page sample of the content you can view without buying.

that's strange, your version of Windows didn't come with MSpaint?

I'd be a little concerned due to the fact that Guild Wars keeps getting tweaked- I've found that collectors occasionally change the items they offer.

Your opinion, and you are entitled to it. But if one took the time to stand and read the questions by players in the game, a guide is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY for them to understand it. One thing that works is to HELP those who need help, it does give a rewarding feeling.

If you feel you are so good, maybe you could teach us a few tricks, I am always willing to learn.

I'd rather open a booklet(guide) then alt tab out to read any wewbsite info every time i need info WHILE i'm playing the game.

No printing info out isnt the same. E Guides have always sucked in comparison too,.

Oh no no, it did, but I'd prefer a paper copy over a Digital one.

See my computer is slow switching between the windows when GW is running. I need a new one, it isn't horrid, its just slow and I haven't patience for it.

I prefer a guide for most of my games because it lets me plan things without having the computer on. I can lay up in bed and research without staring at the computer screen.

GW updates so often I imagine this guide is already useless. 6 months from now the Guide will be a joke.

Thats usually the case with any online game. Things change and eventually the guide becomes essentially worthless as far as information in it. The map however.. would be nice. But 20 or whatever dollars for a map... not worth the price I can just resize the map I have and get a poster printout of it for like 5 dollars.

I finally tracked down a copy of the guide at the local Gamestop. It has lots of useful information that is probably online somewhere, but it's handy to have it all together in one place. There are also interesting write-ups throughout the guide where some of the game designers describe their favorite characters. I thought that was a unique touch.
